Silent Comedy Movie Festival
JJoin us for the annual Silent Comedy Movie Festival at the Historic Park Theatre. ACTION, ROMANCE, DRAMA, LAUGHTER. YOU CAN CATCH IT ALL AT THE SILENT MOVIE FESTIVAL IS EACH FRIDAY IN May and June at THE HISTORIC PARK THEATRE IN ESTES PARK, COLORADO. THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY, FROM EIGHT TO EIGHTY. SEE STARS LIKE CHARLIE CHAPLIN, BUSTER KEATON, CHARLEY CHASE AND MANY MORE. This year 2024 we will have 3 different festivals: May, July & August Each Festival set has 3 different movies- 3 movies for May 3 movies for July and 3 for August. These Comedy silent films are short so each showing has 3 silent films. Memorial Week 3 Movies: Butcher Boy, Immigrant & The Boat Monday, May 27th @ 2 pm Friday, 31st @ 7 pm July Festival Movie set: The Rink, 1 Week & Mighty Like a Moose July 17th @ 7pm July 19th @ 2pm and July 21st @ 2om Labor Week Movie set: Mable Adrift, Bacon Grabbers & The Count August 29th @ 7pm August 31st @ 2pm September 2nd @ 2pm Three short films accompanied by the live piano playing of Scott Flyin’ Fingers Wilseck. Thirty minutes before the films start, you can listen to old time piano music in a historic theatre that was built over 100 years ago. Attendees who arrive early get to listen to old time piano music before the films begin as well as Scott’s melodies that provide an excellent background for the action on the screen. Scott says, “When I was a kid, they showed silent films in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry. While the films were entertaining, I was fascinated by the live piano playing in the theatre. The music was mostly ragtime and really took you back to that era. I’ve always loved playing ragtime and the silent films provide an excellent venue for that type of music.” So walk back into time and spend a late afternoon or evening at the movies of the silent era. Adult/ Senior and Student admission is $13. One child is admitted free with each paying adult/ Senior or Student. Three classic films of the silent era will be shown on those days. The Three movies together will take about a hour and 30 minutes total- with one 15 minute intermission.
